Meet your Holistic Practitioner – Lauren Feder, M.D.

August 18, 2011

Dr. Laura Feder

I would love for you to be my patient, but sometimes, you may need to see someone else other than me. Whether your condition is out of my scope of practice, or I just think a different approach or practitioner will be a better fit or complimentary to what we’re doing, I often refer patients to other great practitioners – big bonus if that practitioner is holistic-minded.

I like to think of good practitioners as an extension of my own tool box. When I need more support (either personally or professionally), I reach into my kit and find the right modality and practitioner to fit my needs. I encourage you to to the same.

What is a holistic practitioner?

Holistic health is about looking at the big picture, not just slapping a bandaid on every issue. A holistic practitioner takes into consideration the whole person – mind, body, spirit – when considering a person’s condition, diagnosis, and treatment. Holistic treatments aim to address the symptoms as well as the root cause of an issue whether it be neck pain, digestive upset, or an autoimmune condition. Holistic practitioners tend to guide a patient to wellness and self-healing rather than just trying to offer a quick fix for things that aren’t working.

So, I’d like to introduce you to some skilled and compassionate practitioners I know. This week, meet Lauren Feder, M.D..  My children see Dr. Feder (and Karen Jacobs her wonderful Physician’s Assistant) when they need western medical care.  Dr. Feder’s practice is a rare find as they combine traditional western care with homeopathic and herbal approaches.  They also place an important emphasis on nutrient dense diets.

Please email me at emily AT holistickid dot com with the answers to the above questions (at the very top of the post), and a minimum of five photos (more is better).

Note: Please send me LARGE photos. Minimum 610 width. If they’re too small, I can’t use them. As much as I’d love to include all the photos I receive, I can’t guarantee that I will use your photos in the series. I’m looking for creative, good quality photos.

Some ideas for photos:

At least one photo of yourself, ideally in your office, possibly working with a patient, candid preferred – we want to see the real you, not the press-release version of you!

Show us your office – your treatment room, reception area, the car you drive to your house calls if your practice is mobile, or any interesting features inside or out of the place you work.

A photo of your favorite tools of trade.

Show us your personal side – hobby, sport, favorite place, or something that makes you human.

And no, you don’t have be local to Los Angeles to be included – we’d love to meet Holistic Kid practitioners around the globe!
